Collaboration between advisors is so extremely powerful. In any industry. I enjoy the banter and sharing of ideas with other professionals. In my experience, we all win when we work together. Why do some advisors disagree? The “blame game” never ends well for anyone.
It always amazes me when another professional comes at me guns blazing. Hmnn ok. And how do we hope this ends? As Stephen Covey so accurately said “Start with the end in mind”.
There are so many opportunities to collaborate for the benefit of the client AND we can all learn from each other.
Choose your advisors wisely. Before hiring a professional, perhaps ask how they deal with conflicts. Have they had conflicts with other professionals in the past and how have they been resolved? This will highlight who someone is and how they address conflict because conflict does happen. Its how we resolve conflicts and differences that matter, in my opinion.
Yesterday a client was complaining to me about their pension administrator and rather than jump on the “blame game”, I offered alternate solutions or strategies to resolve the open items and get the answers the clients need. Whether I agree with the client or not, as a professional, I want to always maintain the highest level of intergrity and behaviour,
