Get AHEAD with your 2022 Taxes

May 13, 2022

I am honored to have worked with Maryalene LaPonsie and Jennifer Ortiz on this article which appeared on USA News today. We were talking about how taxpayers can get ahead in their 2022 income taxes. One choice is to throw money at the problem by signing up for software and apps BUT if you dont use the software and apps as they are intended, then all the fees wont help you with your tax deductions. I have signed up for a gym expecting immediate results, it doesnt work that way sadly.

Keep it simple is my best advice. Keep one folder on your computer. Scan EVERYTHING and save it to that folder. Thats it. You can do this. No need to spend hours filing and categorizing. Just save all your documents in one place.

Then for taxpayers who own businesses, I recommend using an automated software like Quicken or Wave or even Mint to track your business income and expenses, every dollar counts. You do still also need to keep your receipts.

Its not too late, we are only Mid May. Go back to January 1st of this year and get to work categorizing your income and expenses. I also love this as a cash management tool but especially for taxes, being organized will save you dollars!
