Micromanaging your Remote Team?

Many firm owners have embraced remote work for their team with pride. “Yes, we have a remote team!” Then when I do some due diligence, I find that yes, logistically they do have a remote team however the team are being micromanaged from afar which is even worse for morale than being forced to come into an office.

So, how about, instead of micromanaging from afar, we put systems and processes in place so that remote workers are judged on their output –

Are deadlines met?

Is work up to firm standards?

Is their communication and response time within firm guidelines?

If your answers are yes, then I challenge you to let go of the clock watching. Trust that your team are getting their work done in a timely and accurate manner. This builds trust and mutual respect and guess what………..THAT helps retention.

Surirpise but it is also my micromanagers whoa re complaining about retention issues and not being able to find team members. Hmnn, wonder why that would be?!?!!
