If you’d been struggling with an IRS issue and unable to reach anyone on the phone, this may JUST be the solution for you……the IRS is opening their Taxpayer Assistance Centers – these are their local in person offices, this Saturday, May 14th from 9am to 4pm. Go to www.irs.gov and see where your nearest Taxpayer Assistance Center is. Then get up early, grab your coffee and donut and be prepared to stand in line.
No appointment needed. Bring two forms of identification, your prior year tax return and any notices you may have received. Also, if you believe you are due a refund, bring a voided check to show the IRS agent your banking info so that they can get your refund deposited to you more quickly than waiting for a check in the mail.
COVID guidelines may be in place depending on your County so do bring a face mask with you.
Looks like the IRS are hearing our complaints, our frustrations and doing their best with their limited resources, to assist in resolving outstanding notices. I have clients with open issues dating back years. This is a great opportunity to meet face to face with a human being who will be able to help.
