My assistant would respond to messages she was able to, she tasked out the messages that required action from someone else on our team (not me!) and then twice daily she would check in with me regarding messages that did in fact need my attention. A very short list that over time, became shorter and shorter. My mornings could then be filled with firm owner duties – meeting with prospects, clients and high level projects.
Did mistakes happen? YES! Because of the volume of emails, I sometimes missed emails or deleted in error or responded poorly myself. So we would apologize and fix it.
