Many professionals claim that they work best under extreme pressure and up against a dealine. Hmnn, I have not found this to be the case. In my experience, the higher the pressure and the closer we get to deadlines, the more mistakes happen. What are your experiences?
April 15th comes around every year and appears to put extreme pressure on tax preparation firms and CPA firms nationwide. Why is this?
Professionals, you have a choice. Take a stand and tell clients no. Make estimates, file extensions and Continuing to put pressure on yourself and your team simply cannot create a successful working environment and I guarantee that you are not doing your best work as you approach that deadline. Are you? Really?
The challenge in my opinion is managing client expectations. Let clients know what you expect from them and then uphold your side of the agreement. Do what you said you would do when you said you would do it. This mutual respect and understanding will allow you to comfortably say no when a client pushes for a tax return to be filed when you know, you know, that you and your team are tired and not doing your best work.
